Vecchia Storia Barbaresco DOCG 2017

Barbaresco is sometimes referred to as “the younger brother” of its more robust, tannic neighbor Barolo, known as “the king of wines.” However, Barbaresco is noble and notable in its own right, with its own distinct appellation, history, and hilltop villages.

Grape Variety: 100% Nebbiolo.

Origin: Piemonte region, northern Italy.

Aging: Aged in large oak barrels for 3 years.

Alcohol: 14%.

Tasting Notes: Deep ruby red colour. Intense aromas of red fruits, violets and other floral notes. Full bodied, dry, harmonious and velvety, with flavors of forest fruits, truffles, licorice, and tar. Spicy notes on the elegant finish.

Food Pairing: Suggestions include beef or veal dishes with wild mushrooms or truffles, risotto or pasta with porcini mushrooms and/or a hearty, flavorful sauce; and old, strong, richly flavored cheeses.

Serving Tip: Uncorking the wine, and allowing it to breathe for at least one hour before serving, will enhance your tasting experience.

Serving Temperature: 18° to 20°C (room temperature or a bit lower).
