Miras "Jovem" Trousseau 2024

Trousseau is an unusual red wine in that it looks like a lighter-style wine but is actually big and bold. Hailing from a remote, semi-desert environment in Patagonia, Argentina, Miras "Jovem" Trousseau has been produced with organic, sustainable, hands-on farming methods. Colder temperatures and constant winds make for thick-skinned grapes and low yields, leading to more concentrated flavors.

RATINGS: The current vintage has not yet been rated. Seven (7) previous vintages were rated by James Suckling, with the scores averaging 90 points.

GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Trousseau.

ORIGIN: Guerrico, Alto Valle del Río Negro, Patagonia, Argentina.

AGING: No oak aging. Traditional fermentation with délestage. 18 days of maceration. Aging in bottle: 2 months minimum at the winery before shipment to market.

ALCOHOL: 13.5%.

TASTING NOTES: This unique wine's translucent ruby colour conceals a surprise on the palate. But first: on the nose, it has a beautifully complex fruity aroma in which currant, blueberry, strawberry, guava and cherry can be detected, along with earthy, minty, and herbal notes. On the palate, for a wine of such delicate colour, it has an unexpectedly robust tannic structure, with balanced fruit-forwardness and freshness, with a bit of sweetness too. These sensations persist on the long finish.

PAIRING: Steak, pork escallops, Mediterranean fish stew, potato mushroom soup, smoked sausages, hearty lentil stew, mushroom pâté, charcuterie, Gruyère Swiss cheese, chèvre.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18°C or slightly lower than room temperature.
