Miras "Jovem" Naranjo 2024

Hailing from a remote, semi-desert environment in Patagonia, Argentina, this "orange" wine has been produced with organic, sustainable, hands-on farming methods. Made from Torrontés, the emblematic white grape of Argentina, Naranjo gets its color from being made like a red wine.

GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Torrontés.

ORIGIN: Mainqué, Alto Valle de Río Negro, Patagonia, Argentina.

AGING: No oak aging. Fermentation in steel tanks. Made with the “orange wine” technique, where white grapes go through a process usually reserved for red grapes. The Miras winemaker adds the skins and seeds to the juice squeezed from the grapes and macerates the mixture for some 35 days before bottling. Aging in bottle: 2 months minimum at the winery before shipment to market.

ALCOHOL: 13%.

TASTING NOTES: Bright onion-skin orange color. Fruity-floral aroma of passion fruit, rue and a touch of sherry. Smooth and lively on the palate, with medium acidity and a rich, fruity flavor of quince and tangerine. Gentle tannins from contact with the skin during maceration. Medium persistence on the finish.

PAIRING: Try with salads tossed with nuts and similar toppings but no vinegar; smoked salmon, seafood pasta, pesto pasta, fettucine Alfredo, aromatic spicy dishes, Thai and other Asian dishes with umami flavors, earthy foods like sautéed mushrooms and roasted veggies; and/or aged hard cheeses.

SERVING TEMPERATURE: Slightly chilled, by cooling in the fridge for an hour or two.
