The Franconia grape varietal, of Austrian origin, was previously known by the name Blaufrankisch in northern Italy, where it was first cultivated in the late 1800s.
Committed to sustainability, biodiversity, and integrated farming, Annalisa Zorzettig's estate includes wildflowers and beekeeping in its environs. Respecting the typical characteristics of each variety and the terroir, the winery strives for balanced refinement and integrity in its wines.
Grape Varieties: 100% Franconia.
Origin: The hills of eastern Friuli (Colli Orientali).
Aging: 8 months, 80% in steel, 20% in French oak barriques. Ageing continues for a few months in the bottle.
Alcohol: 12.5%.
Tasting Notes: Ruby red color. Intense aroma with pleasing notes of plum and black cherry, as well as hints of mallow. Fresh, velvety and very pleasant; the sip is enveloping and soft, and this wine has a sweet finish.
Food Pairing: Roasted white or red meat, grilled vegetables, cheeses and dry pastries, pizza Margherita.
Serving Temperature: 14°C. Chilling this wine is recommended to fully experience its lovely tasting profile.
Cellaring Potential: 3-5 years, according to the winery.
